B-M Hands P-H Girls First NAC East Loss

Megan Ashley scored the only goal of the game with 17 minutes remaining in regulation as Brushton-Moiria (3-1) handed Parishville-Hopkinton (3-1) its only loss in NAC Girls Soccer action on Saturday.

Ashley moved in from the midfield, controlled a P-H attempt to clear a corner kick and drove the ball under the crossbar.

Natalie Palmer stopped five shots in the shutout and Brenna Woods handled seven saves for P-H.

"Our team is coming along but we are young and we lost so many good players from last year's team," said P-H Coach Evan Harper who led last year's Panther squad to the New York State Class D Final Four.

"We lost our starting three forwards and midfielders and our best defender. We aren't as fast or as skilled as last year but we are getting better. We played a good game today."
