Baer Wins Journeyman State Wrestling Title

Gouverneur's Baer won his second state wrestling championship on Saturday winning the 160-pound championship at the Journeymen/RUDIS New York State Championship at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, PA.

Baer won the 160-pound championship decisioning Jack Spahn of Islip 5-1 in the finals after posting a 92 win over DaKota Mashco of Portville, 9-2 in the semi-finals.

Last March Baer captured the 138-pound New York State Public High School Division II championship.

With the Section 10 Wrestling season moved to spring because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bear has been wrestling this winter and spring for Grain House Wrestling Club in Watertown. Earlier in the season he earned a number 18 national ranking
