Bartlett's 9 Points Spark Clarkson Lax Victory

ROCHESTER – Graduate student Conor Bartlett scored a career-high nine points with three goals and six assists to account for half of the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team's scores as the Golden Knights downed Nazareth College 18-11 on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Knights moved to 1-2 on the season with the victory while Nazareth dropped to 0-2. The two teams will play one another once again on Saturday, March 20th at Hantz Field. The two teams played even for the first quarter, but Clarkson's extra-man goal with 12 seconds left in the first quarter began a huge offensive stretch for the Knights. Graduate student Pierce Currie scored off a pass from Conor Bartlett at the tail end of the first to tie the game, and the two combined for two more goals as the Knights went on a 5-0 run to start the second for a 9-4 lead. The Green and Gold held a five-goal edge at the half, but Clarkson's offensive outburst was yet to be completed, scoring seven more times in the third, including two from Sebastian Geiger and two more from Currie. Up by 10 through three quarters, the Knights cruised to the win over the final 15 minutes. Bartlett added three groundballs to his nine-point outing and Currie added seven points with six goals and an assist. Geiger also contributed six points on four goals and two assists, while Jay Considine had three points on two goals and an assist. Riley Holzman won 19 of his 30 tries on face offs and also snagged six groundballs. Tyler King picked up five groundballs while Kevin Dyckman stopped seven shots and had seven groundballs in just under 50 minutes in the Clarkson crease. For Nazareth, Jeremy Jacob had five points on three goals and two assists and Jon Roth scored three times. Clarkson won 19 of the 32 face offs overall and also led in groundballs 34-20.
