Bears Defend Division Lead; Deny Solid OFA Bid

OFA continued its resilience and ability to generate late-inning offense challenging Canton's unbeaten run in NAC Central Softball on Monday.

Canton scored three times in top of the seventh inning to take a 10-5 lead and the Blue Devils (4-3) came through with three one-out hits in the seventh inning. The poised Golden Bears (6-0) held serve getting back to back outs for a 10-6 win and will host OFA on Tuesday.

Hadley Alguire pitched the victory and singled and tripled and score three runs to lead the Canton offense along with Natalie Warner rapped a double and two singles and scored three runs. Warner singled in Canton three-run seventh.

Cate DeCoteau singled twice, Lexi Huiatt singled and scored twice and Sydnee Francis also scored twice for the Bears. Brooke Larrabee and Alyssa Jacobs singled.

The Devils were sparked by Bailey Friot with a triple and two singles to drive in four runs and Katharine Smith who stroked three singles and scored four runs.

Emily Farrand tripled and scored, Paige Pinkerton singled with an RBI and Gabrielle Morley singled to round out the offensive support for Riley Hough's complete game pitching effort.

"It was a good high school game. In the end Canton made more plays today. We come right back and play them tomorrow," said OFA Coach Mark Henry.
