Beaulieu's Second Place Leads OFA Cross Country

FORT COVINGTON - Lexi Beaulieu continued to carry the OFA standard as the Blue Devil Cross Country teams completed their regular seasons in a triangular meet at Salmon River's 5K course which also included Malone on Tuesday.

Both OFA teams were incomplete because of injuries and the Devils will run in the Norwood-Norfolk Invitational on Saturday. The N-N Boys and Girls will both host the event as 9-0 Northern Conference Champions.

Beaulieu (22:03) ran second to Malone's Bethany Poirier (21:28) and Emily Wells placed third for Salmon River which was also incomplete. Emma Murray (28:58) and Brianna McRoberts (29:29) placed 11th and 12th as OFA's second and third runners.

"Lexi Beaulieu ran an outstanding race. She almost won," said OFA Coach Chris McRoberts.

In the Boys Varsity race Dylan Perry led the field in 17:22 for Malone which gained wins of 15-50 over OFA and Salmon River.

Xavier Collins of SR took second i 18:21.

OFA's lead runner was Mitch McCarthy who took 16th in 21:52 and James Martin placed 18th in 22:16. Brogan LaRose (24:19) and Conner McRoberts (25:34) rounded out the Blue Devil entries in 26th and 27 place.

Tanner Smith and Brendan Rivers ran third and fourth leading OFA in the Modified Boys Race and Jacie Lalone led the way in the Modified Girls Race in eighth place. Evelyn Davis, Jessica Marman and Maive Putman came in i4th, 15th and 16th.

N-N SWEEPS TITLES

The Norwood-Norfolk Boys and Girls swept home meets to finish at 9-0 on the season. Potsdam and Canton shared second place in the boys standings at 7-2 and in the girls final standings Potsdam went 8-1, Canton 7-2 and Gouverneur 6-3.

In Tuesday's final boys meets the results were: Canton 27- Potsdam 29, Canton 20 - Gouverneur 41, Potsdam 20 - Gouverneur 41, N-N 15 - B-M 50, N-N 15 - Massena 50, N-N 15 - Tupper Lake 50, B-M 19 - Massena 38, B-M 15 - Tupper Lake 50.

In the final girls meets it was: Potsdam 24 - Canton 31, Potsdam 22 - Gouverneur 35, Canton 27 - Gouverneur 29 , N-N 15 - B-M 50, N-N 15 - Massena 50, N-N 15 - Tupper Lake 50.

Running at home the Flyer Boys filled the first 10 places and their top five finished a split second apart: Levia Scochia 19:13.1, Lawton Colbert 19:13.2, Clayton Reed 19:13.3, Michael Rider 19:13.4 and Thomas Hopsicker 19:13.5.

The Lady Flyers recorded a 1-4 finish with Maddie Dinneen 20:52, Sharon Colbert 22:03, Rachel Hewey 22:37 and Ceara Stone 23:21.

In the meet at Potsdam Isabelle Shatraw of the host Stoners led the Girls Varsity field in 19:43 followed bv Arianna Whitaker at 20:00.52. The Stoners' Jocelyn Shatraw and Julianna Shatraw took third and fourth in 21:06.95 and Rikki Griffith of Gouverneur rounded out the top five in 21:46.95.

The Boys Varsity Race at Potsdam saw Canton's Nick Lyndaker pull away from the field to 17:33.78. Sylvain Foisy of Potsdam took second in 17:55.92, teammate Skye Crocker took third in 17:56.24 and Gouverneur's Cole Sibels (18:12.80) and Canton's Robert Reed (18:38) rounded out the top five.
