Ben/Bob Take Elks Golf League Lead For Final Week

With one week left in the Elk’s League regular season, there is a new team in first place. Team Ben/Bob have regained the lead after five week of team Travis/Jamie holding the top spot. Scoring 8.5 points Ben/Bob are now in first place by one point over Travis/Jamie, 83 to 82. In third place is team Mel/Butch, with 81 points.

With another ideal day, weather wise, five players scored under 40: Carl Hewko 36, Jamie Alonso 37, John Mullaly 38, and Travis Bell and Phil Cosmo at 39. Collecting birdies were Travis Bell with two, Jamie Alonso, Dave Mills, Tom Moran, Ralph Deloney, and Carl Hewko with one each. There were five skins out: Travis Bell, Jamie Alonso, Dave Mills, Tom Moran, Ralph Deloney. Closest to the pin, on nine, was Scotty Williams leaving it under five feet. Sorry to say he missed the birdie, which made those watching on the porch scatter in case of an incoming putter. He was heard to mutter something about the hole being cut with a crown after the missed putt.

Reminder: The yearend get-together is planned for Wednesday September 9. It will start at 3:30-4 p.m. at the course with a nine-hole Texas Scramble, with teams to be determined. This will be followed by pizza and wings, at the Moose around 6:30-7 p.m. Anyone who wants to get in some additional play is welcome to show up earlier in the afternoon and play with their own parings. Just be ready to start the scramble at the time stated above.
