BLFGA Bringing Derby Back To Lake Saturday

The Black Lake Fish and Game Association will be bringing its Ice Fishing Derby "Back to the Lake" on Saturday. The derby will be for Northern Pike only and the minimum length to be entered is 26 inches. NYS Fish & Wildlife Regulations Must Be Obeyed - All Contestants Must Register Before Fishing. The Adult Registration fee is $15 and the Youth (16 and under) fee is $10. Anglers can register at the Black Lake Fish Game Association Club House, Black Lake Marine, Chapman’s and Fish Creek Bait and Tackle.

$1000 GRAND PRIZE

The $1000 cash grand prize will be offered and the winning pike mist be caught and entered on ice at the following shacks: Rollaway Bay / Chapman’s Sport Shop / Black Lake Marine and ‘Red Barn’ and the weigh-ins will close at 3 p.m.

The club house will be open for open for Open Boundary Pike until 4 p.m. but the open boundary fish are not eligible for the grand prize.

Reel Deal Taxidermy in Ogdensburg has offered a free fish mount of biggest fish caught at the Black Lake Derby.This is about a $500. Door prize!!! He has also offered 25% off for anyone else registered in the derby that wants to get their fish mounted.

Four separate $200 cash prizes will be awarded, one for each station and one $100 cash prizes will be awarded in the Youth Division at each stations. All prizes will bed awarded by the luck of the draw.

There will also be a special bonus On-Ice Card Drawing.

Anglers entering an additional 26” pike at any station on the ice will receive a half a playing card. The winning card for each station will be drawn at the club for an additional prize that day. Rollaway Bay / Chapman’s Sport Shop / Black Lake Marine ‘Red Barn’ (3 p.m. close)

The clubhouse will be open from 6 to 8 Friday Evening, January 24th, and 7 am to noon on Saturday, January 25th. for registration.

Club members will be selling raffle tickets and serving food at the clubhouse throughout the day. Anyone interested is invited to stop in and participate in additional raffles and drawings

DERBY RAFFLE: Complete Ice Fishing Package, Eskimo Mako 43cc ice auger, Quickfish2 Shack, Jet Sled, Mr. Heater, 5 HT 500xp tip-ups, HT Jig Pole, Ice scoop and bucket. Tickets can be purchased at club, weigh in stations, participating business & registration locations)

There will also be special bonus category raffles for qualifying participants: Volunteer Fire & Rescue - $50 Cash, Active Duty Military and Veterans - $50 Cash, Trap Team Members - $50 Cash, Women - $50 Cash, Seniors 65 & Over - $50 Cash. They are Included with registration purchase and participants must enter at clubhouse.

All registration Fees are Non-Refundable. If derby is cancelled due to weather, the club will reschedule. Officers of The Organizing Club, Sponsors or Anyone Else Concerned with The Derby Are Not Responsible for Any Personal Injuries or Property Damage. By Registering for The Derby participants Agree to Abide by These Rules Even If they Have Not Read Them. Anglers are asked to please show courtesy to others and obey all pertinent rules and regulations Please.

"If Bring It onto The Ice, Take It Back Home with You and be safe," said a spokesperson for the organizing committtee.

10 TAGGED FISH WORTH $100

The Black Lake Chamber of Commerce has sponsored 10 $100 Tagged pike for a total of $1000 in tagged fish. Four of the fish will be released at the Yellow Barns area, three at Chapman's and Three at Roll Away Bay.

Another $50 prize at each weigh station for a kid prize. Lots of cool prizes!!! Big door prize---fishing charter for four people on lake Ontario with the Irish Rover!!

IRISH ROVER SPORTFISHING CHARTER

Mike McCarthy of the Irish Rover Sportfishing Charter. Mike has donated a six hour Salmon fishing trip for up to four people on Lake Ontario to THE derby.

"I have been out with Mike and his fishing skills and charter service are outstanding. This is an amazing prize and maybe the biggest one we have had donated in a while. Four weigh stations offering cash prizes of $300 each, $1000. Grand prize and an amazing fishing trip on Lake Ontario with an excellent charter service." said Rupert.

"Plus a host of other really cool prizes and raffles. All luck of the draw!! Better put January 25th and the black lake derby on your calendar. You have to be in it to win it."

Another big door prize donation for the Black Lake Fishing derby!!!

The oerganizers of the Black Lake Fish and Game Association Fishing Derby have finished tagging the ten fish for the black lake derby!! 4 at the black lake marine, 4 at Chapman's and 2 at roll away bay. They are worth $100. If caught on Saturday!!

Look for the signs on the ice for weigh stations for the black lake derby!!!$ Each station will have one posted!!
