Boater Safety Class scheduled in Morristown

A Boater Safety Class will be held in Morristown on July 9-10 (two nights) at the St. John’s Parish Center, 500 Morris St., frp, 5 PM to 9 PM. The Ogdensburg United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is urging recreational boaters to enroll in a boating education course.

Registration is $35 per person with family rates available. Call 315-605-8041 or stop by Wright Marine in Morristown to sign up.

A certified boating safety course is required in New York State for everyone 14 years old or older operating a personal watercraft (i.e. jet ski), and, motor boat operators born on or after May 1, 1996, and at least 10 years of age.

The U.S.C.G. “About Boating Safely” course meets this requirement. The “About Boating Safely” certificate and card are awarded at the end of the second night and are valid in New York State and all other states, and easily replaced if lost or damaged.
