Brasher Falls' Arquiett Among 5 To Join Skating Saints
Five players have recently signed National Letters of Intent to play men's hockey at St. Lawrence, Charles W. Appleton II Head Men's Hockey Coach Brent Brekke announced on Monday.
Will Arquiett, Drake Burgin, Isaac MacLeod, Chris Pappas and Mason Waite will join the Saints at the beginning of the 2021-22 season.
Forward | Brasher Falls, N.Y. | Vernon Vipers (BCHL)
Scored 16 goals and added 14 assists for 30 points in 52 games for the Cowichan Valley Capitals in the BCHL last year
Spent previous three seasons at Northwood School, totaling 37 goals and 62 assists for 99 points in 122 games.
Has four goals and one assist in 10 games played for the Vipers this season.
Brekke on Arquiett:"We are very excited to have another North Country kid join our team. Will grew up in Brasher Falls and played his high school hockey at St. Lawrence Central, as well as Northwood School before heading out for British Columbia for junior hockey. Will brings a great combination of compete and skill. We are excited about the impact he will have on our program."
Defense | Winnipeg, Manitoba | Winkler Flyers (MJHL)
Scored 12 goals and added 41 assists in 60 games for Winkler in 2019-20.
Had 22 points on seven goals and 15 assists in 54 games for Winkler in 2018-19.
Brekke on Burgin: "Drake is a very good puck-moving defenseman with a strong offensive game. He finished the regular season last year in the Manitoba junior league as the number two defensemen in scoring with 53 points in 60 games played. Drake sees the ice very well and thinks the game at a high level. His skating ability and strong compete make him an excellent two-way defenseman."
Isaac "Oak" MacLeod
Forward | Caledonia, Ontario | Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL)
Playing first season of junior hockey this year after scoring 39 goals and adding 26 assists in 35 games for the New Hampton School in 2019-20.
Scored 23 goals and had 17 assists in 35 games for New Hampton in 2018-19.
Has four goals in nine games played so far this season.
Brekke on MacLeod:"Oak is a pure goal-scorer. Not many players have a true knack for scoring and Oak has that special talent. Oak's hockey sense, offensive instincts, and desire to score make him a threat every time he's on the ice. He has been outstanding in his rookie season so far and we can't wait to get him in our lineup."
Forward | Etobicoke, Ontario | Brooks Bandits (AJHL)
Scored 22 goals and added 36 assists in 58 points in 58 games in 2019-20.
Had 47 points (17 goals, 30 assists) in 53 games for the Toronto Patriots in the OJHL in 2018-19.
Scored a goal and added three assists in two games so far this season.
Brekke on Pappas:"Chris is a highly skilled forward with a great hockey IQ," said Brekke. "After a strong season putting up a point per game in his first season with Brooks last year, he has shown another level to his game and has had a tremendous start. Chris will add a lot of offense to our roster."
Defense | Winnipeg, Manitoba | Prince George Spruce Kings (BCHL)
Scored seven goals and added 22 assists from the blue line for Prince George Spruce Kings in 2019-20.
Registered 24 points (five goals, 19 assists) in 55 games for Lloydminster Bobcats (AJHL) in 2018-19.
Has three goals and an assist in six games for the Spruce Kings this season.
Brekke on Waite:"Mason is a big, strong defenseman with very good abilities. He was named the captain of the Spruce Kings this year and is a young man with great character. We are looking forward to the impact Mason will have on our program over the next four years."
