Canton Bests OFA Harriers; N-N Boys, Girls Go 5-0

OFA hosted its final home cross country meet of the season on Saturday morning and visiting Canton came away with Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys individual and team honors to hand both Devil squads their second losses of the season.

The meet turned out to be the Blue Devils' final meet of the season as the OFA school district announced Saturday evening that it was switching to remote only until Nov. 24 because of two COVID-19 cases thus ending the fall season.

MEET AT OFA

CANTON GIRLS 20, OFA 35

Grace McDonough 20:07 and Julie Bessette 20:59 posted a 1-2 finish leading the 3-1-2 Bears who handed 3-2 OFA its second loss. Lexi Beaulieu 21:21 led OFA in third place and Canton took fourth and fifth with Lydia Kennedy 22:16 and Emily Pandel 22:23. Katrina Sheffield rounded out Canton's scoring five in eighth place in 26:26.

Rounding out the OFA finishers were: Brianna McRoberts sixth in 25:47, Emma Murray seventh 25:50, Myra Myers ninth in 26:47, Quinn Crossin 11th in 29:29, Makenzie Spicer 12th 32:55 and Jessica Harmon 13th 33:11.

CANTON 15, OFA Inc.

Canton (4-2) swept the top five spots to defeat OFA (3-2) with Max Finley 15:54, Nick Lyndaker 16:15, Daniel Creurer 18:06, Brendan Nolan 18:07 and Charlie Todd 19:43. OFA's runners finished 6-9: Mitchel McCarthy 21:32, Jay Sovie 23:11, Connor McRoberts 23:19 and Brandon River 24:05.

In the Modified races Canton placed 1-2 in the Boys Race with Daniel Armendairz 9:43 and Grady O'Brien 9:51 and OFA was led by Lucas Downie 11:10 and Jaxton Skelly 11:15 in third and fourth place. Canton also went 1-2 in the Girls Race with Bennett Schmitt and Lexi Stuntz and OFA's top finishers were: Jacie Lalonde 7th - 12:43, Kaitlin Finley 10th - 13:45 and Delora Payne 11th - 13:55.

N-N BOYS GIRLS MATCH 5-0 RECORDS

In a meet hosted by Potsdam the Norwood-Norfolk Girls and Boys teams both posted 5-0 records. The Lady Flyers prevailed 15-50 and the N-N Boys took a 23-38 win.

Maddie Dinneen finished first in 18 minutes, 28.3 seconds leading a 1-6 finish followed by Sharon Colbert 18:56.60, Rachel Hewey 20:27.40, Lauren Sweet 21:35.70, Madison Ashley 22:55.30 and Madison O'Brien 23:21. Abigail Hughes led Potsdam in seventh place 24:20.90.

Owen Haas 17:20 won overall individual honors for N-N followed by Skye Crocker 17:34 and Finnegan Dean 17:53.30 of Potsdam

N-N secured the win filling the next eight places led by Dominic Fiacco 17:57.6, Anthony Fiacco 18:03.60 and Michael Richards 18:24.90 and Jace Williamson 18:52.20.

MALONE SWEEPS MASSENA

In a meet at Massena Malone swept Varsity Boys and Girls honors over incomplete Massena teams.

Bethany Poirier, Adeline Chodat and Emily Perham went 1-2-3 in the Girls Varsity and Rebekah Garrow took fourth for Massena.

Nic Thompson, Spencer Miletich and Ethan Robistow swept the top three positions for the 6-1 Huskies. Logan Dobbins led Massena in fourth place
