Canton Girls Secure Victory Over Heuvelton

CANTON - Host Canton and Heuvelton both enjoyed a breakout quarter of the second half of Sunday's tough defensive NAC Girls Basketball matchup on the court of the undefeated Bears.

After being held to 14 points through three quarters, Heuvelton upgraded its production to 11 in the fourth quarter. But the Bulldogs were unable to make series inroads against the Bears who struck for 21 points in the third quarter to inflate a 19-10 halftime lead on their way to a 49-25 victory.

Lexi Huiatt struck for eight of her 10 points in the quarter and Cameryn Sipher and Maddie Hoy each came through with three-pointers.

Huaitt and Ava Hoy both went 4-4 from the foul line in matching 10 point efforts. Maddie Hoy finished with seven points and Sipher and Emily Wentworth each scored six. Amelia Rodee and Hailey Duvall added four and three points.

Katie Cunningham scored seven of her 11 points in the fourth quarter to lead Heuvelton and Molly Williams finished with five. Rylin McAllister, Bella Doyle, DaKota West and Lara Martin all finished with two points.
