Canton Girls Stay Unbeaten In Central

Pitchers Emily Wentworth and Hadley Alguire continued to string zeroes while Canton continued to string hits at the plate in an 11-0 win over Gouverneur in NAC Central Division Softball action on Monday. Wentworth struck out 10 and allowed just one one in five innings and Alguire spun two hitless innings closing out the shutout for the undefeated Bears.

Wentworth went 4-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs, Cate DeCoteau went 2-4 with a triple, Alguire doubled and drove in two runs and Natalie Warner and Hadleigh Thornton added two hits apiece.

Raelin Burns struck out 11 pitching six innings for Gouverneur received its only hit from Ellen Baer.

"Both of our pitchers continue to throw well and our defense is improving every day. Our infielders made a lot of nice plays today." said Canton Coach Mike Wentworth.

Massena 14 - Potsdam 6: Ainsley Cromie homered to send Massena past the Sandstoners (0-4) in a Central Division game in Potsdam.

Caitlyn Reed and Liz Rogers both supplied two hits for Massena (2-2).

Malone 17 - Salmon River 1: Ryleigh McCauley and Julia Perras both went 3-for-4 to lead Malone (4-0) past the Shamrocks (0-3) in a Central Division game at Fort Covington.

C-P 13 - Chateaugay 9: Hogle of the Colts limited the Bulldogs to three hits, Rulledge doubled twice, Chamberlain singled twice and Butterfield tripled for the winners. Cammi Champagne tripled for the Bulldogs.

"Tough loss on senior night. We came out flat and we were not focused. We made to many mistakes against a good team that is very fundamentally sound. I am proud of how we battled back from a big early hole and still had a chance to make it interesting right to the last at bat. We will regroup and get ourselves ready for our next game," said Chateaugay Coach Jason Laplante.
