Canton, Peru Play For Petty Tourney Title

A intersectional meeting of two teams coming off impressive wins will decide the Don Petty Memorial Girls Basketball Tournament at Canton Central today at 3 p.m.

The host Golden Bears advanced in an 82-44 win over NAC Central Division rival St. Lawrence Central and Peru bested Lowville 61-43.

Canton produced high-scoring offensive balance with five players finishing in double figures. Katie Chisholm led the way with 15 points with three 3-pointers, Maddie Hoy tallied 14 and Gretchen Warner, Sarah Sieminski and Jillian DiSalvo both finished with 11. Lexi Huiatt checked in with nine, Mary Lobdell scored six and Hailey Duvall (2), Abby Dent (2) and Ester Shipman (1) rounded out the scoring. Marissa McLean scored a game-high 24 points with four 3-pointers for the Larries and Maggi Yandoh and Mckenzie Moreau followed with 10 and seven. Kennadee Love added three points.
