Canton's McKenney Reaches Elite 600 Wins

As a high school player at Canton Central Bob McKenney teamed with Hal Cohen in one of the best backcourts in the history of Section 10.

As am high school coach McKenney has established himself as one of the best in his profession.

On Tuesday McKenney, a member of the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame, guided Bishop Grimes to a 58-44 victory at Christian Brothers Academy on the court named for his good friend Buddy Wieklinsky and gained his 600th career victory.

On Saturday, Wleklinski earned career basketball win No. 500 on the court named in his honor.

McKenney achieved the milestone in his his 36th coaching season which featured a 19-year tenure at Jamesville-DeWitt where he won five New York State Class A Championships. He is currently in his fifth season at Bishop Grimes.
