Carthage Rallies To Down Canton In Boys Hoops

CANTON - Elijah Whitfield and Zion Tevagan combined for 17 fourth quarter points leading Carthage to a come-from-behind 56-55 non league boys basketball win at Canton on Wednesday. The Comets trailed 47-36 with six minutes to play but forged a decisive rally.

Canton (7-3) will look to rebound on Saturday facing OFA at 5:30 p.m. in an NAC Central Division game to climax the Freddie Badlam Basketball Celebration at OFA.

Whitfield scored 11 of his 25 points and Tevagan tallied six of his 20 in the fourth quarter where the Comets (2-5) rallied for their second win of the season and broke a four-game losing streak. Josh Demko and Jaccere Ranes each added six points to the win.

Andy Downs led Canton with 16 points followed by eight from Sky Kennedy, seven from Josh Kennedy and six from Ashton Cloce and Chris Downs Jr.


In NAC games on Wednesday Brushton-Moira (3-2, 6-3) downed Norwood-Norfolk (3-2, 8-2) 67-60 in an East Division game and in one NAC Central Str. Lawrence Central (4-2, 7-4) downed Salmon River (1-5, 4-7) 54-40.
