Chateaugay, SJB Share CYO Basketball Lead

In CYO action over the weekend, Chateaugay, St John Bosco, Bangor, and Citizen Advocates all picked up wins. Chateaugay and St. John Bosco stayed tied for the lead at 6-1.

Chateaugay 73, Maranatha 55.

Cody Woodward and Carter Tower both paced the winners with 23 points, and Tower just missed a double-double with 9 rebounds. Brady Magoon added 14, Matt Jarvis had 10, and Julia Bosley had three to round out the scoring.

Maranatha was led by Israel Ryman with 27 points followed by Brayden Powell with 17. Eddie Russell had seven points and eight rebounds, Blake Cook added three, and Ryan Avery had a singleton.

St John Bosco 57, FBMM 48.

Seth Gonia led the winners with 15 points including three 3-pointers while Logan Hohol turned in a double-double 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jeremy Lamitie had 11 points including a perfect four-for-four from the free throw line followed by Conner Chevrier, Josh Bova and Austin St Dennis with six points apiece.

FBMM was led by Sage Sauve with 17 points and Zydenn Poirier with 16. Others scoring were Skylar Gravel with nine, Garrett Osborn with four, and Connor Hanna with two. Foul shooting caused trouble for the losers as they were able to convert on only 5 of 17 attempts.

 Bangor 58, Smitty's 44

Caiden LaMay led the winners with 24 points followed by Scott McCray Junior with 16 and Connor Smith with 10. Others scoring were Tyson Preve with six and Kaden Jarvis with two.

Smitty's was led by Nate Martin with 24 points followed by Lucas Saumier with nine. Other scorers were Brady Sweet with four, Kelson Preve with 3, Jarrett Sweet and Logan McManon with two apiece with McManon hauling in eight rebounds.

Sunday, January 19.

Citizen Advocates 55, OBGC 39

Dawson Scharf led the victors with 23 points followed closely by Alex Hanna with 21. Others scoring were Nick Bertrand and Braedyn Dietz with four points apiece while Dylan Warner added a 3-pointer.

Ogdensburg was led by Michael Bice with 11 points followed by Mark Tomford with 10. Nick Davidson added eight, Bryce Redmond added four and Kassidy Johnson and Tyler George each scored three.


Current Standings: Chateaugay and St John Bosco 6-1, Citizen Advocates and Maranatha 5-2, FBMM and Bangor 2-5, Ogdensburg 1-5,  and Smitty's 0-6.

January 25 schedule: Varsity: 12:30 Maranatha vs Smitty’s, 1:30 Chateaugay vs Bangor, 2:30 FBMM vs Maranatha, 3:30 Citizen Advocates vs St. John Bosco.
