Clarkson Academics Match Success On The Ice
The Clarkson University Men's Hockey team enjoyed great success on the ice this past season and also excelled in the classroom. The Golden Knights were among an elite group of programs overall in NCAA Division I men's hockey to be honored by the NCAA for ranking in the top 10 percent in Academic Progress Rate.
Clarkson was one of only two men's hockey teams in the country ranked in the top 10 in both the APR and the final NCAA Pairwise.
Clarkson, which rated ninth in the NCAA Pairwise, was just one of 11 men's ice hockey programs that had perfect four-year average APR scores of 1,000.
The APR, created in 2003 to measure Division I schools and teams on their student-athletes' success in the classroom, awards points to teams based on students' grades, their progress toward their degree and for staying in school. Teams are also rewarded in the APR for students who return to school to complete their degree.
