Clarkson Rides Fast Start Past Lady Roos

Canton Visiting Clarkson University jumped out to a quick start and never looked back earning a 57-24 victory v. the SUNY Canton women’s basketball team in non-league action on Monday evening.

Clarkson opened an 18-4 lead after the first quarter and took a commanding 38-6 advantage into intermission. Molly Stewart posted nine first-half points for the Knights, while Joie Culkin and Autumn Watkins had three each for the Roos.

The teams combined for just 11 points in a low-scoring third quarter and the Roos edged the visitors, 14-12, in the fourth. Watkins paced the Roos with seven points, seven rebounds and three steals. Culkin, Jeanna Manning and Jasmine Dickson supplied four points each, while Culkin ripped down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Stewart and Mariah Benavides paced the Knights with nine points each, while Maddie Pratt added eight. 12 Clarkson players finished with a made field goal as the visitors scored 28 points off turnovers in the contest.

The Roos return to action on December 6th when they open North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play v. Thomas College at home.
