Clarkson Shades Colgate; Quinnipiac Games Cancelled
HAMILTON - After a long wait, Clarkson took the ice again for their opening game of the 20-21 season. The Knights skate away with a 2-1 win at the Class of 1965 Rink at Colgate.
The opening period saw Clarkson outshoot Colgate 16-6 but neither team was able to score. The Knights had two power plays in the opening period. The Knights broke through at the 8:56 mark of the second period when Anthony Callin got his first goal of the year off a tip of Brian Hurley's point shot. Jack Jacome's work along the boards was able to spring the puck free to Luke Mobley who got the 2nd assist on the goal for his first point as a Golden Knight.
The Knights took a 2-0 lead into the 3rd period, but Colgate pressured hard to start the period and broke through at the 5:05 mark with a goal from Alex Young. The goal was reviewed for an offside but deemed a good goal after the review. Clarkson took back control with some good puck possession shifts in the later half of the 3rd period and was able to withstand a 6-5 attack with the net empty for Colgate.
Clarkson finished 0 for 2 on the Power Play. Colgate went 0 for 1 on the man advantage. Golden Knight Goaltender Kris Oldham got the win making 23 saves on 24 shots in his first Clarkson start. Andrew Farrier gave up 1 goal and made 17 saves while splitting time with Carter Gylander who finished with 6 saves and allowed 1 goal.

The Knights were slated to travel to Quinnipaic next Sunday, but that game has been canceled by the Bobcats. The Clarkson Women's Hockey games at Quinnipiac were also cancelled.
