Close Race Continues In Elks Club Golf League
With 5 weeks left to go, the Elk’s Golf League at the St. Lawrence State Park looks like it might come down to the wire.
Travis/Jamie currently lead Ben/Bob by 1 point, 60 to 59. In 3rd place, at 57 points, is the team of Scott/Dave, followed in 4th by 2 teams, Coz/Tom and Ralph/Carl, with 56 points.
The conditions were great for this week’s play, and there were two players who broke 40. Jamie Alonso continues to post low scores and turned in another good round of 39. Dave Mills, finally breaking out of the shadow of his stellar playing partner, Scotty Williams, also shot a 39. Scotty was heard to say, “it’s about time”.
There were 4 skins, out this week: Dave Mills, Wally Boyer, Todd McKee (wearing his stylish camo shorts), and Pete Monpetit. Chris Clegg was closest to the pin on 9.
The members would like to wish a speedy return to a couple of our players, Norm and Carl. It is not hard to tell who the anchor is on the Norm/Breezy team. With Norm out the team has been finding it tough to stay in the upper tier.
As to Ralph/Carl, with Carl out Ralph had to look high and low for a sub. He went so far as to recruit a pal from Florida. Ralph assumed because Marty lived on a golf course and could play year-round, he would be a great fill in. Ralph, shaking his head, stated “can’t wait for Carl to get back”, after their round on Wednesday. Get well guys, and hurry back, your teams need you.
The league will play from the front tees this Wednesday, 8/5.
