Davis, Gilbert Lead NNY Bassmasters' Big Bag Bonanza

Tournaments based in Morristown continued to produce bulging bags and massive smallmouth for the Northern New York Bassmasters Club on Sept. 12.

Jordan Davis and Jesse Gilbert led the way with a 24.49-pound bag anchored by a 6.22-pound big fish. Gary Rayner and Gyle Dominie placed second at 23.65 pounds with the day's Lunker which weighed 6.24 pounds.

John Narrow and Corey Palmer took third at 19.63 pounds and Donnie Duprey and Brad Hill took fourth at 19.28 pounds. Both teams weighed in a 5.27-pound big fish.

Seven fish weighing five pounds or more were weighed in with two six pounders and two other smallies which approached the magic six-pound marker. The team of Nightingale and Gravlin weighed in a 5.97-pound smallie and the team of Hentz and Hentz brought a 5.93-pound bass to the scales.

Heading into Saturday's final regular season tournament, which will be staged out of Ogdensburg, the team of Tyler Capella and Jesse Spellicy lead a close range for Team of the Year with 1178 pounds. Sharpe-McIntyre team at 1169 and Duprey and Hill at 1157 lead the chase of the leaders.

The club's playoff tournament will be held on Oct. 10-11 with anglers fishing on the St. Lawrence River on Day One and Black Lake on Day Two.

The team of Gibson of Green gained a sixth place with a very good day on the St. Lawrence River.
