Defense, Clutch 3s Carry Harrisville Past Copenhagen
Weathering a torrid shooting start by Copenhagen, Harrisville Central regrouped around its defense to gain a 62-52 Lewis County Boys Basketball victory on Saturday.
Copenhagen buried four 3-pointers, two by Lucas Graves, in jump out to a 24-14 lead.
The Pirates answered with a 19-8 second quarter advantage and sealed the win behind Will Taylor who completed a 19-point night with a 3 and four free throws in the fourth quarter.
"Our defense did a great job after the first quarter," said Harrisville Coach Brian Coloney.
"Will Taylor hit some big shots. Ben Taylor and Tanner Sullivan did a great job defensively in the second half."
Nate Schmitt scored a game-high 21 points leading the Pirates and Tanner Sullivan followed Will Taylor's 19 points with eight and Ben Taylor added six. Zach Palmer and Tucker Kelly each finished with four.
Lucas Graves finished with 13 points and Garrett Tufo tallied 11 for Copenhagen which also received nine points from Cody Pawis and Clayton Partin.
