Devil Golfers Close On Title With Season Best Round

The OFA Golfers used their best team round of the season to close in an NAC Division I Golf Championship with a 215-235 win over Gouverneur at the St. Lawrence State Park on Wednesday.
Paced by career bests of 38 by Nick McRoberts and 41 by Tim McLellan the Blue Devils climbed to 7-1 heading into their final home match of the season against Madrid-Waddington on Friday and their regular season finale at Potsdam on Monday. The Section 10 Championship will Medalist Round will also be held at the Potsdam Country Club.
"This was our best home round of the season," said OFA Coach Matt Morley after the Devils continued their methodical march toward the division crown in calm 80 degree weather on a day when drives in the fairway led to favorable rolls.
McRoberts birdied the eighth hole and Jack Mills continued his consistent play in the number one spot with a 43 which featured pars on the second, third and fourth holes.
Ethan Bouchard showed excellent poise as an eighth grader by birdying the fifth hole to key his recovery from a nine on the first hole to shoot a 44. Nate Woods rounded out the scoring with a 48, Gabe Clark noted a nonscoring 49 and Landin McDonald put together a smooth 45 as an alternate.
Dylan Farr continued as Gouverneur's season-long leader with a 40 followed by Rane Rumble and Avery Hayden at 46 and 47, Nathan Shattuck at 48 and Wyatt Holmes and Sully Rumble at 54.
CANTON STAYS UNBEATEN ATOP DIVISION 2
CANTON 233, COLTON-PIERREPONT 322 Canton continued its undefeated march atop the Division II ranks with a 233-322 win over Colrton-Pierrepont and Salmon River continued its fine season. Ryan Jones led the way with a medalist 39 followed by Sam Sieminski 41, John O’Neill 45, Brad Frank 52 and Ashton Cloce 56. Billy LaPierre's 40 led C-P and Aaron Collins tallied a 56. Salmon River put together a fine team round downing Norwood-Norfolk 212-259. Gavin Cook-Avery led the way at 40 followed by Evan Collette 41, Carter Johnson 42, Connor Dishaw 43, Jared Showen 46, Eston Wylie 55. N-N's Jace Dutch shot a medalist 39 followed by Ryley Ashley 44 and Rhett Ashley 45.
