Devil Seniors Give Coach Henry Ultimate Gift
Updated: Feb 6, 2020
At Tuesday's Senior Day Ceremony OFA Coach Mark Henry called the fivesome of MeSean Johnson, Jackson Jones, Connor Griffith, Harry Powers and Brogan LaRose a "fantastic senior group" which has lead an outstanding season. A season which produced an eighth straight NAC Central Championship Championship in a win over Malone following the ceremony.
The five seniors are all captains, they have all coached in the Biddy Basketball program for several years and they are all very successful three-sport athlete and good students.
Coach Henry thanked the seniors for their leadership and for giving him the best gift any coach could receive from a team.
"The past four or five weeks have been some of my favorite times in the gym ever. Thank you so much for that," said Henry.
"These five young men are excellent role models for younger student athletes. I think the biggest compliment I can give these young men is that the are respectful, they are all about family and they will all be very successful in life."
The following are Coach Henry's comment on each player
Connor Griffith with his parents Misty and Ryan Griffith: He is a three-year varsity player who excels in baseball and soccer as well. Besides his constant need for a band aid, he is one of the toughest kids I have coached. He is a great defender and slasher.
MeSean Johnson with his mother Danielle Denoncourt: He also excels in football and track. He holds the single season and career assist records (reached the rare 500 assist total during the game.). He is without a doubt an unbelievable defender.
Jackson Jones with parents Jamie Barkley and Jon Jones: He is a three-year varsity player who also excels in baseball and football. He currently has 856 career varsity points (scored 26 during the game) and he is a walking double-double,
He is one of the most talented offensive players I have ever coached. Seems like yesterday he was our team manager or as we called him a traveling fan.
Brogan LaRose with parents Steve and Monica LaRose: He also excels in cross country and track. No player has improved more from the beginning of his junior year to the end of his senior season. That is due to his hard work. He is like having another coach on the floor due to his knowledge of the game of basketball.
Harry Powers with parents Jamie Lopez and John Powers: He also excels in football and track and is one of the best shooters I have coached. He has 153 career three pointers which puts him third all time at OFA. He is one of the most coachable and polite young men that I have had the pleasure to coach.
Coach Henry also thanked the parents and family members of the seniors, his volunteer Assistant Coaches Jim Adams, Shannon LaFave and Megan Morrison and Scott Sargent; JV coaches Dakota Brady and Jon Rogers and Cheerleading coaches Jackie Pinkerton and Victoria Peabody and everyone who supports OFA Basketball
