OFA's Northern Conference Golf season teed off on an ominous note.

Playing in wet conditions and 45 degree weather the Blue Devils dropped their opener at Massena.

But as the weather got consistently better so did the Blue Devils who won their next nine matches culminating with a 214-275 Senior Day victory over Madrid-Waddington on Friday in calm 75 degree weather and firm conditions at the St. Lawrence State Park. Moving to 9-1 the Devils opened a two-match margin over Malone and Massena heading into today's regular season finale at Potsdam.

"We had a group guys who had played a lot of golf and some young guys who really improved. They really did a nice job" said OFA Coach Matt Morley who honored seniors Tim McLellan and Karson LaRose after the match.

Senior Day proved to be totally memorable for McLellan who birdied the first hole and went on to shoot a medalist and career best round of 39 leading the Devils in the home finale where LaRose, a first year varsity player, finished at 60 in his only match of the season. Ethan Bouchard, Jack Mills and Nick McRoberts came in with rounds of 40, 41 and 42 and Gabe Clark rounded out the scoring total at 52. Nate Woods shot a 47 to lead the alternates in the match.

Drew Harmer tallied a 45 as the leader of M-W which was cited by Coach Aaron Jones for their season-long improvement. Adam Sabatine followed at 53 and Kyle Murphy and Caleb Hayden each finished at 55. Caleb Hayden rounded out the scoring with a 67.
