E-K Boys Hit Stride; M-W, P-H Match Wins In East Race

BY DAVE SHEA

The start of the Edwards-Knox Boys Soccer season was delayed when the school went virtual only because of COVID-19 positive tests.

Five games into the season it appears that the Cougars are making up for lost time and finding their stride.

On Friday Coach John Davison's 3-1-1 team blanked Heuvelton 3-0 one day after downing Hermon-DeKalb 4-1.

"They’re starting to really understand the hang of their positions and their roles out on the field. Heuvelton is a good team, as are all of the teams (NAC West) in my opinion. We really stepped up tonight and are starting to prove what we can do as team," said Coach Davison.

Heuvelton was missing 4 or 5 starters and played well considering. We buried our opportunities and did a great job on defense securing our first shutout."

Over in the NAC East Madrid-Waddington (10-1-1) blanked St. Regis Falls 5-0 to match strides with 9-0 Parishville-Hopkinton which downed Brushton-Moira 5-0 and Colton-Pierrepont bested Chateaugay 4-1.

"Josh Wrobel and Cale Rickett really did a nice job and Tristan Young gave it all he had in goal. We will start getting our guys back next week."
