E-K, St. Regis Girls To Play For Title At C-P
Edwards-Knox and St. Regis Falls moved into the championship game of the Tim Hennessy-Rod Thomas Memorial Girls Soccer Tournament at Colton-Pierrepont on Thursday. The tournament concludes on Saturday with the first round of the boys tournament scheduled for today.
E-K downed Brushton-Moira 4-1 while the host Ms. Colts fell to St. Regis Falls 2-0.
SRF 2 - C-P 0: Emily Arcadi scored both goals for the Saints unassisted and Mikayla Brockway stopped 13 shots for the shutout. Natalie Butterfield stopped six shots in the C-P goal.
E-K 4 - B-M 1: Abby Hart scored three goals and assisted on Lucy Frary's opening goal to spark the Lady Cougars who scored three times in the second half. Lucy Frary assisted on two goals for E-K and Katrina Benvel added one setup. Savanah Beachy scored the lone B-M goal off an assist from Teagan Phelan.
Ali Matthews and Mikayla Meilleur both stopped three saves for E-K and Natalie Palmer finished with eight saves for B-M.
Coach Patty Taylor was pleased the leadership showed by Lucy Frary and Abby Hart with the opening outing for her team which features five players from Clifton-Fine, four eighth graders and one ninth graders.
"We have a lot of girls and this team who have played together. For us it will be matter of everyone playing together and we did well today," said Coach Taylor.
