Elks Club Golf League Heads To Finish With Tight Race

With the season fast coming to an end, the lead in the Elks' Golf League at the St. Lawrence State Park is down to a half point. Travis/Jamie continue to hold down first place, but the ever-rising team of Mel/Butch have closed to within a half point, 76 to 75.5, with team Ben/Bob in 3 rd place with 74.5 points.

With ideal weather conditions on Wednesday, there were three golfers under 40. Scotty Williams and Jamie Alonso both had 37, and Bob McGrath came in with a 38. It looks like Scotty and Jamie will be fighting it out for low individual average this year. Both are hitting the ball very well. Who knows, if Scotty’s partner Dave Mills had been a little less heavy, for Scotty to carry all year, they could have been a little closer to first place.

There was only one skin for the week and that was by Jamie. The closest to

the pin was Vern Williams.

The year-end get together is planned for Wednesday September 9. It will start at 3:30-4:00 at the course with a nine-hole Texas Scramble, with teams to be determined. This will be followed by pizza and wings, at the Moose around 6:30-7:00. Anyone who wants to get in some additional play is welcome to show up earlier in the afternoon and play with their own parings. Just be ready to start the scramble at the time stated above.

The league will play from the back tees this Wednesday, 8/26
