Fast-Starting Lowville Girls Down Harrisville
Sydney VanNest buried two three-pointers in a 17-2 first quarter burst which gave Lowville control against Harrisville in a Lewis County Girls Basketball game on Thursday. Lowville never allowed the Pirates' a significant comeback and recorded a 48-26 victory.
VanNest finished with 18 points and Natalie Thomas tallied 12 points for the 2-0 winners who handed Harrisville its first loss after a 2-0 start.
Torie Moore tallied 10 points for Harrisville and Maegan Kackison netted eight. Emily Winters netted four points and Abigail McIntosh finished with three.
The Harrisville JV Girls beat South Lewis 35-9. Violet Atkinson led all scorers with 17 followed by Victoria Shampine with six. A great team effort on defense was led by Lola Miller and Lilah Stephenson.
Copenhagen controlled Beaver River 71-16 in another Lewis County game led by 23 points from Raegan Dalrymple. Brooke Smykla dropped in 20 points for the Golden Knights (2-0) and Meaghen Fitzpatrick came through with with 15.
Brynn Rice scored five points leading Beaver River (0-3).
