Flyers Cap Perfect Season At NAC COVID Invitational

NORFOLK - The season of COVID in Northern Conference Cross Country was led by Norwood-Norfolk Boys and Girls teams who both posted 7-0 records.

The one-day postseason also featured a Flyer sweep of team honors on the NAC COVID Invitationals on the Norwood-Norfolk Central 5K course which hosted the 2007 New York State Championships and the 2017 SUNYAC Championships.

The N-N Boys shaded Canton 37-36 with Potsdam placing third at 73 as the only other complete team. Clifton-Fine rounded out the field.

The Lady Flyers downed Canton 18-41 in a match of the only complete teams. Potsdam and Clifton-Fine were represented by individual winners.

GIRLS RACE

Maddie Dinneen capped an undefeated season with a medalist run of 19:32 and teammate Shannon Colbert placed second at 19:46. Isabelle Shatraw of Potsdam took third in 20:32 and Rachel Hewey 20:49 and Lauren Sweet 22:31 of N-N took fourth and fifth.

Rounding the top 10 were: three Canton runners in Grace McDonough 22:39, Julia Bessette 22:44 and Emily Pandel 23:25 and two N-N striders in Madison Ashley 23:45 and Madison O'Brien 24:16.

BOYS RACE

Anthony Fiacco 18:44, Mike Richards 19:03, Lance 19:13 and Logan Bradley 19:31 and Jace Williamson 19:52 finished in a bunch in eighth through 12th place to lift the N-N Boys to a 36-37 win over Canton which featured a 1-2 finish by Nick Lyndaker 17:36 and Max Finley 17:49.

Skye Crocker 18:02 ran third for Potsdam and Owen Haas 18:05 and Dominic Fiacco 18:10 led the Flyers in fourth and fifth place. Rounding out the top 10 were: Dean Finnegan of Potsdam 18:34 and Sean Shannon of Canton 18:38.
