Fort Drum Hosts Virtual Fishing Contest Saturday, Sunday

Get ready to cast your lines and reel in a great catch for the Fort Drum Virtual Fishing Contest!

In honor of NYS Free Fishing Weekend, we are hosting a Virtual Fishing Competition and we encourage you to get outside and cast a line. Whether it is by yourself, with a friend or the family - everyone can join in on the fishing fun. Cast a line, catch a fish, snap a picture and post it to this event and you will be entered into a drawing to win a grand prize - the contest is that easy!

Don't have any fishing gear? Don't worry! You can head over to Fort Drum Recreation for all your fishing rental needs.

When: The contest will take place on Saturday June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 2020. (This is the NYS Free Fishing Weekend and you do not need a state fishing license to fish during these days.)

Where: You can fish in any authorized fishing area within a 200 mile radius of Fort Drum, NY. If fishing on-post at Remington Pond, catch and release is required. If fishing on-post in a Training Area, check-in procedures apply and you must obtain a Fort Drum Recreational Access Pass, Fort Drum passes are available for free at

Who: This event is open to Fort Drum MWR Authorized patrons of all ages.

Prizes: Adult Category (13 and up) - $100 Visa Gift card Child Category (12 and under) - fishing tackle box pack valued at $50.

Contest Rules: 1. Observe social distancing when fishing. 2. Practice proper safety and health precautions while out in public areas. 3. Follow State and Federal fishing and environmental laws while fishing. 4. Exercise caution while on or near the water.

How to enter the grand prize drawing: You MUST post a picture (with you holding your catch) to this event page under the dedicated "Contest Entry for Adults" and "Contest Entry for Children" post. Pictures must be posted, no later than, Monday, June 29 at 11AM. Limit ONE picture per person (multiple photo submissions will not be counted).

The winner for both categories will be announced LIVE on our Facebook page at noon on Monday, June 29, 2020.
