Franklin CYO Basketball Hands Out Awards

MALONE - The Franklin CYO Basketball season was halted by the virus at the start of the playoffs

Commissioner Ken Cring has announced that the season has been completed with the passing out of team trophies and the announcement and passing out of individual awards.

"Tuesday and Wednesday, Betty and I traveled to each of our Franklin CYO Basketball Coaches to deliver individual and team trophies," said Cring.

"These people deserve a huge THANK YOU for donating their time and efforts so that a large number of our North Country Youth have a chance to play a game they love."

Francis Helm (Chateaugay) received the first place trophy, finishing with a 12-2 record, Victor Ortiz (Maranatha) with a 11-3 record, Mike LaRocque (St. John Bosco - 54 straight years) with a 10-3 record, and Lisa Scharf (Citizen Advocates) with a 10-4 record.

Other coaches are Scott McCray (Bangor), Derek Wescott (FBMM), Andrew Deddeker (Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club), and Justin Russell (Smitty's), plus splinter coaches Don LaMay (Bangor), Jeremy Lamitie and Drew Bombard (St. John Bosco), Rick Keating (FBMM), Oby LaClair (Maranatha), and Kelly Russell (Smitty's).

Dawson Scharf of Citizens Advocates was honored as the Frank Purdy Memorial Best Offensive Player and Dryden Spinner received the Frank Purdy Memorial Award as the Best Defensive Player Award. The Bob Loetterle Memorial Service Award went to Tyler Preve.

Bangor - MVP - Scott McGray Jr., MIP -Brody Hyde, Sportsmanship - Brandon Earl.

Chateaugay - MVP - Cody Woodard, MIP - Carter Tower, Sportsmanship - Riley Dupuis.

FBMM - MVP - Sage Sauve, MIP - Ethan LaVare, Sportsmanship - Skylar Gravel.

Smitty's Construction - MVP - Nate Martin, MIP - Kelson Preve, Sportsmanship - Logan McMahon.

Marantha - MVP - Brayden Powell, MIP - Ryan Avery, Sportsmanship - Israel Ryman.

Citizen Advocates - MVP - Dawson Scharf, MIP - Nick Bertrand, Sportsmanship - Alex Hannah.
