Free Fishing In New York State On Valentines Day

You know what they say—the couple that ice fishes together, stays together. Valentine’s Day coincides with this year’s Free Fishing Weekend (February 13 & 14), so why not plan a date out on the ice? No reservation needed!

A fishing license isn’t required during designated free fishing days, making it the ideal opportunity to try fishing for the first time or introduce someone who is new to the sport. For tips on getting started and where to go visit https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7733.html. All other fishing regulations remain in effect during free fishing days.

Share your catch with us! Email your pics to fwfish@dec.ny.gov.
