Virtual Global 6K For Water At Copenhagen Growing
COPENHAGEN - This year's virtual World Vision Global 6K Run/Walk, set for May 16, to raise money for water projects in developing countries is surpassing expectations. The Copenhagen, NY team is going to exceed the number of participants and the fundraising it generated last year.
"Thank you so much for your interest in this effort when there is so much need in the world and so many requests for financial donations. We now have 35 participants from three states (New York, Pennsylvania and Hawaii) and have raised $1,385," said Race Director Leslie Sheldon.
"Since my last email to the entries, we added 11 new team members."
Some additional highlights are:
- Rebekah Widrick has emerged as our top fundraiser.
- Thank you to Sue Nicol for her generous donation.
- Thank you to my cousin Doug Haller who joined us from Hawaii. (He is a native of Adams, NY). His wife Christine already had signed up, and I mentioned her in my last message. I'm so happy to have you both!
Anyone who would like to participate in the 6K but is financially strapped right now, is asked to Ms. Sheldon know. She has some donation money that she intend to use toward registration fees.
The money goes to World Vision water projects whether I send it directly to World Vision or use it to sign up people for the 6K, so using it for registrations is a win-win. :)
There may be another discount on registration fees before the event The last day to register in order to get your race kit (T-shirt, race bib, medal) by the event date is May 11.
The official event date is May 16, but you can complete your 6K on a day that is convenient for you.
