Global Water 6K Raises $1,875 To Date; Discount Entry Offered

Leslie Sheldon who is the Director of the 6K For Global Water in Copenhagen, NY has issed an update for this year's event on May 16 which will be held as a virtual event to maintain social distancing during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Greetings 6K supporters!

We now have 47 participants from FIVE states and have raised $1,875 for water projects. That's enough to provide lasting clean water to 36 people!

*See info on registration discount below!

This is our 4th year hosting the event, and this week we surpassed $10,000 in total fundraising. That's clean water for more than 200 people! You were a part of that! Thank you!

New members since my last email include Jim Miller; Ginny Hovendon; Kristy and Cole Sullivan; Madison and Kaylee Kloster; Laurie and Megan Messick of California; and Brenda Terry, Brigette Bradley and Regina Ferrell of Florida.

Brenda Terry knows firsthand what it is like to have to walk to a stream with a jerry can to collect water. She is a native of Rochester, N.Y., and lives in Port Richey, Florida. She is a missionary to Kenya and would be in Kenya now if her travel wasn't canceled as a result of the pandemic. The community where she works in Kenya now has a well.

Our other team members include: Marie, Elizabeth and Anna Western; Denise and Keith Rivers; Julie Keegan; Robert Cooper; Jaime Tapke; Olivia and Lydia Boucher; Tina Sullivan; Dave Shea; Christine and Doug Haller; Evy Bernat; Joyce Grau; Betsy Nicol; Benjamin and Naomi Sheldon; Jillann and Jay Micek; Adrienne, Mickey, Denali and Aurora Dietrich; Rebekah, Keith, Braden, Ethan, Isabella and Quinton Widrick; and John, Jonna and Jadyn Kloster.

If you registered for the Copenhagen team and don't see your name, let me know. I'll make sure you appear on our team roster.

There are more than 12,000 people signed up to participate on more than 1,000 teams across the United States. This is a global event, but I don't have numbers for participants from other countries.

* A $10 discount on registration fees is being offered until midnight Sunday night. Enter the promo code empowermoms during the registration process.

You can register for the 6K through May 16, but in order to be guaranteed to receive your race kit (T-shirt, race bib, medal) by May 16, be sure to register by Monday, the 11th.

If you would like to participate but can't swing the registration fee, please let me know. I have a discount code for $20 off one registration, a discount code for $25 off one registration, and I have some donation money that I can use to get people signed up.

Not sure where you would complete your 6K? If you live in the Copenhagen area, you may use our regular route on the River Road. Copenhagen school superintendent Scott Connell has offered to mark the route, which begins and ends at school. If you live near a school track, and it's open to the public, you can run or walk 15 laps on a standard track.

To register, visit and click on "Join our team." Or click on "Support us" to donate.

For more information, you can reach me by replying to this message or email or call 315-777-0994.

Thank you!

Leslie Sheldon
