Great Defensive Effort Carries Clarkson Ladies Past Colgate

A great effort defensively, some timely penalty kills, and a two goal game from Caitrin Lonergan propelled Clarkson to a 2-0 win over Colgate in ECAC Women's College Hockey on Friday.

Clarkson had a 7-0 shot advantage early, which lead to Lonergan's first goal at 4:25 of the first period. Avery Mitchell and Brooke McQuigge got the assists on the goal. The second period saw Colgate get three power play chances, but the Knights were able to kill off each chance, Clarkson ended killing off all 5 of Colgate's chances for the game.

As Colgate was pressing the Knights got a big momentum shifting goal when Lonergan knocked home a rebound at 10:25 of the third. Gabrielle David and Stephanie Markowski assisted on the goal.

Colgate pulled their goalie with 1:42 left and had pressure but was unable to get on the board. Michelle Pasiechnyk followed up her ECAC Goalie of Week performance with the shutout. She finished with 32 saves. Clarkson outshot the Raiders, getting 33 shots on net for the game.
