Great OFA Team Effort Checks Massena

MASSENA - Defense manifested itself on both ends of the court for OFA on Thursday as stops started the offense throughout the game and the 3-2 Blue Devils gained a 66-35 win at Massena for a 3-0 NAC Central Division start.

"It was a great defensive effort tonight. Our communication was fantastic and we got out and ran at times. MeSean Johnson got to the rim many times in transition and it was the best game Jackson Jones has played by far on the defensive end. He was so active in our man and zone defenses," said OFA Coach Mark Henry.

"Harry Powers is doing all the little things to make us better and the bench again gave a great lift. David Vernsey has been a ball of energy the past few games."

Johnson delivered a game-high 18 points with seven assists, seven steals and four rebounds and Jones continued to be a double-double machine with 17 points and 10 rebounds matching up inside with Massena's talented 6-8 postman Ethan Firnstein who finished with 11 points and five rebounds.

David Vernsey tallied seven points with four rebounds and Harry Powers dropped in two 3-pointers and passed out three assists. Connor Griffith and Brogan LaRose scored five points and Trent Sargent and Tristan Lovely (4 steals) each added four points.

Chris McGregor led Massena with 13 points and six rebounds and the Massena scoring was rounded out with Zach LaBarge (2), Luke Greco (1), Tom McGregor (3), Hayden Amo (2) and Adam Peets (2).

SLC 65 - Potsdam 31: The Larries pulled away with a 34-10 second half and a well balanced effort which featured 21 points from Ethan LaRock, 11 points and five assists from Hayden Peck, 18 rebounds and five assists from Cash Feeley, six points and eight rebounds from Steve Horner and five points and six steals from Caeden Taylor.

Noah Dominie and Carter Newcombe scored nine and eight points for Potsdam and Francesco Potenta added six.
