H-D Looks To Compete Well In NAC West Baseball

BY DAVE SHEA

Two years ago Mike White coached the Hermon-DeKalb Central Modified Baseball team to man 8-1 record.

Coach White will be looking for many of the those players to translate that type of success to the varsity level along with a group of players who played at the varsity level two years.

"Last year was supposed to be my first year with the varsity but the season was cancelled. This year we have good seniors and a good group of juniors and sophomores," said Coach White.

"We are looking to compete well but we know the league will be tough."

Heading into the season juniors Andrew Matthews and Art Carr and sophomores David White and Billy Granger are regarded as the top pitching options with senior Brad Doerr looking to provide leadership behind the plate backed by freshman Caleb Murcray. Five seniors: Peyton Hamilton, Duncan Gillie, Randy Durham, Eli Tracy and Tray Hooper will see action in the outfield while junior Henry Chilton can play all over the infield.

Matthews, Carr, White and Granger will also work at key in field positions for the Demons who open a new NAC West season on Wednesday against Edwards-Knox.

Sophomores Colby Arquitt and Christian Guarino will play in the infield and freshman Jayden Deshane adds more depth to the outfield.
