Hammond Central Goes Remote Until Tuesday

Dear Hammond Community, Unfortunately, we have been informed of a positive case of COVID-19 among our staff. In order to protect the health and safety of everyone in our school community, we will be dismissing early at 12:30PM today, October 30th and pivoting to remote instruction for all students until Tuesday, November 3rd. This will allow staff and students to seek testing and give the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health time to complete contact tracing. All Northwest Tech students and BOCES special education students will also be fully remote during this time period. We know you have many questions and concerns and while we cannot share details identifying the positive individual, I can assure you that if you or your child have come in contact with the positive individual, you will be contacted directly by the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health. As a reminder, the federal government has approved free breakfast and lunch for seven days a week, including holidays for our students. Please send Leslie Tate a message by email - or call 315-324-5931 ext. 26134. We will continue to work closely with Public Health to reassess the situation and will keep you informed of any changes to this plan. If you have concerns and would like to seek COVID-19 testing proactively for you or your child, there are testing sites available throughout the county. Contact information is included below. Samaritan Medical Center: (315) 785-4000 St. Lawrence Health System (Canton, Potsdam, Gouverneur, Massena): (315) 261-6240 Clifton-Fine Hospital: (315) 848-8049 Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center: (315) 713-6655 Finally, I understand that the uncertainty and stress surrounding the pandemic can cause anxiety and distress.
