Hammond Girls

HAMMOND 75 - MORRISTOWN 25

As expected the Red Devils used their length, depth, athleticism and game experience to take control with a 21-2 first quarter run and picked up from last year's run to the Section 10 Class D Championship and the regional finals where the season was ended ended by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Avery Kenyon tallied a game-high 18 for the Devils generated consistent fast break finishes of their defense and Hailey Manning led the outside shooting netting three-pointers in an 11-point fourth quarter.

"It was so enjoyable to see Hammond girls basketball again. Over a year since last game. A sad but exciting feeling as a coach. I thought girls ran pretty well. Considering lay-off. Some had jelly legs due to overexcitement and anxiousness but the group as a whole did well," said Hammond Coach Shawn Dack.

"Seeing the seniors play and be able to finish their careers is a very thankful feeling as well. They have worked hard and all seniors in section 10 deserve that opportunity.

Our younger kids as well were very good: Sadie Sprabary, Landree Kenyon. Hailey Manning, Zoe Cunningham. This is a pretty deep athletic group. Very proud of them."
