Hammond Girls Advance Girls In Day Of 1-0

The Hammond Central Girls emerged from Saturday's regional finals action as Section 10's lone representative in next weekend's New York State Girls and Boys Final Four.

All four games involving Section 10 produced 1-0 decisions.

The 17-1 Lady Devils advanced in 1-0 win over Section 7's Chazy (11-9) at Beekmantown High School on the strength of an outstanding defensive performance and a Kelsey Bennett goal assisted by Hailey Cunningham with just under seven minutes to play.

Bennett has scored all 10 Hammond postseason goals and Alyvia Crosby posted the shutout as the Devils moved into to Sarturday's New York State Class D semi-finals against Section 5's Avoca which advanced past Section 6's North Collins 7-1.

The Class D title game will be played at SUNY Cortland at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

In Boys Soccer action Class D Champion Lisbon (19-1) saw a perfect season end in a 1-0 loss against Section 7's Chazy (19-0-1)at Beekmantown.

Class C Champion Madrid-Waddington dropped a 1-0 decision to Section 2's Voorheesville (19-1-0) and Class B Champion OFA (8-6-3) fell to another Section 2 Champion in Schuylerville (14-7) at Clarkson University.

Saturday's winners will play in the New York State Final 4 next weekend in Middletown, NY.
