Hammond Girls Stay Unbeaten; Pirates Edge Lisbon

Hammond remained undefeated on the season with a tidy 13-1 win over Morristown in a match of NAC West unbeatens on Wednesday. In a match of two teams striving for their first win Harrisville gained a dramatic 15-14 victory over Lisbon.
HAMMOND BATTERY LEADS WIN OVER MORRISTOWN
Hammond's sophomore battery of pitcher Sydney Tupper and catcher Zoey Cunningham continued to be multi-dimensional leaders. Tanner struck out 11 in a five-hitter against a solid Morristown and singled twice at the plate and Cunningham lined four singles and a triple at the plate.
Alyvia Crosby singled three times, Avery Kenyon singled twice and Hailey Cunningham singed. Rylie Showers doubled for Morristown and Emma Showers, Karrissa Donnelly, Mia Johnson and Kassidy Sullivan all singled.
"Zoey Cunningham did an outstanding job catching and batting tonight," said Hammond Coach Katina Dillon.
CLUTCH HITS LIFT HARRISVILLE PAST LISBON
Harrisville needed to answer a determined six-run rally in the top of the seventh by Lisbon to gain its first win of the season. The Pirates scored three times climaxing with a game-tying single by Caroline Delles and a walk-off game-winner by Evelyn Winters.
Hannah Woodard struck out four pitching the victory and Amy Manchester lined two singles and long three-run homerun in the third inning. Cayden Atkinson added two singles for the Pirates.
"Amy Manchester hit a three-run homerun was a shot, it was hit a long way. And we got two real clutch hits in the seventh," said Harrisville Coach Rick Chartrand.
"Evelyn Winters had only one hit in the game but she came through with a big one to win the game."
Ava Bouchey singled and tripled for Lisbon and Grace Smith and Gabby Taylor each stroked two singles.
