Hammond Nears 12-0 In West; M-W, E-K Win

Hammond closed in on a perfect West Division and Edwards-Knox closed out a strong run to second place with shutout wins in Wednesday's Northern Conference Girls Soccer action.

Hammond blanked Hermon-DeKalb 2-0 and E-K checked Heuvelton 4-0.

In NAC East action Madrid-Waddington dropped St. Regis Falls 2-1, Brushton-Moira shaded Tupper Lake 3-2, Parishville-Hopkinton nipped Chateaugay 1-0 and Norwood-Norfolk edged Colton-Pierrepont 1-0.

Hammond 2 - H-D 0: The Red Devils (11-0) moved within one game of a perfect 12-0 NAC West season paced by Kelsey Bennett who scored on a penalty shot and then netted an unassisted goal.

Alyvia Crosby stopped four saves in the shutout and Emery McQuade finished with eight saves fir H-D (5-7-0 NAC West).

E-K 4 - Heuvelton 0: The Lady Bulldogs (4-8-0) were stymied by the 7-4-1 Cougars in the Heuvelton Senior Day game where Abby Hart delivered a goal and two assists in a three-goal second half for E-K which scored three goals in final seven minutes.

"We have had an up and down year but we had four good seniors on this team. They worked hard and I will miss them," said Heuvelton Coach Gus Burns recognizing Caitlyn Sibley, Megan Woodward, Sydney Morley and Rayna Cameron.

E-K's Karina Benzal scored the only goal of first half unassisted and Hart set up goals by Macy White and Lucy Frary and then scored from White in the second half. Emma LaFaver posted 10 saves for Heuvelton and Ali Matthews handled three shots in the E-K shutout.

M-W 2 - St. Regis 1: Alexis Sullivan and Jaeylynn Uppstrom figured in both goals for the Jackets who lifted their NAC East Division record to 4-7-2 with four wins in the second half of the season. Sullivan scored with 30 minutes left in the first half from Uppstrom and Lilly LaMere and Uppstrom netted the game-winner from Sullivan and Grace Plumley with 13 seconds left in the game.

St. Regis (3-11) scored midway through the second half. on a goal by Leah Wheeler from Caydence Rondeau.

Emma Martin made five saves for M-W and Mikay;a Brockway handled nine shots for the Saints (3-12-0, 3-11-0 East). other NAC East action

P-H 1 - Chateaugay 0: Kelly Bloom scored the winning goal just 4 minutes into the second half. Emily Collins and Kaitlyn Kirk had assists after setting up the Bloom goal. Both teams played a fast paced game, but were unable to create many great scoring chances as each team's defense was very tough, with many shots being blocked or intercepted before reaching the goal.

The Lady Panthers have registered four shutouts in their last five games and finish their regular NAC season on Fridayvat Colton-Pierrepont with a 4 p.m. start.
