Hatton Returns to Join Nordic Skiing Staff
CANTON - Dana Hatton '18 has returned to join the St. Lawrence University Nordic skiing staff as a graduate assistant coach.
"I'm very grateful for this opportunity to come back to my alma mater and do what I love best," said Hatton. "After a year with City Year expanding my leadership and team building skills, I'm eager to get started and help develop a stronger team. I look forward to working with Ethan and everyone involved in the skiing community."
Hatton captained the Nordic squad for three years and was awarded the Nordic Axtell award in 2016 and the National Student-Athlete Day award her senior year. Hatton competed in 24 carnivals for the Scarlet and Brown, posting a season-best 38th-place finish in the women's 5-kilometer classic at the UVM Winter Carnival during her senior year.
She spent the last year as an AmeriCorps Member for City Year in Boston, Massachusetts, completing 1,700 hours of service assisting partner teachers in high needs inner-city middle school humanities classrooms. Hatton also helped prove students with academic, social-emotional, attendance and goal-setting support.
Hatton graduated St. Lawrence Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree with minors in Sports and Exercise Science and Studio Art.
"I am excited to have Dana back as an assistant next year," said head coach Ethan Townsend '98, M'01. "She was a tremendous captain and great teammate during her career. I am sure she has lots of great ideas to help the team grow and has learned a lot during her City Year experience teaching."
