Hazen Tourney Concludes With Title Games Today

Ogdensburg Minor Hockey will conclude the 30th edition of the Mike Hazen Memorial Tournament today and Sunday at the Edgar Newell Golden Dome rink and the Jimmy Howard Rink at the Richard Lockwood Arena.

Championship games in the Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam Division will be held today at the Golden Dome weather conditions beginning at 9 a.m. The tournament celebrates the life of Mike Hazen who died at age 15 and at it conclusion special awards will be presented to honor young players who display the attributes of Mike Hazen who impacted the lives of many and also honor outstanding service to Ogdensburg Minor Hockey.

Immediately following the Bantam Championship Game the Ogdensburg Minor Hockey Association will present the Frank and Gwenna Barr Scholarship Award, the Mike Hazen/Chad LaFlair Spirit of Friendship Award, the Mike Hazen Memorial Distinquished Service Award, the first Michelle Hazen Memorial Award and the Mike Hazen Outstanding Ogdensburg Bantam Award.

Following the Squirt Championship game the Scott Farrand Memorial Award will be presented.

The tournament will showcase outstanding local and visiting talent.

The tournament will also include a Minor Hockey Alumni Game at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Golden Dome. In conjunction with the tournament a Celebrity Bartenders Night will be held at Sipps beginning at 7 p.m.

30TH MIKE HAZEN TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Sunday at Lockwood Arena: 8 a.m. - Bantam (Salmon River vs Kemptville), 9:30 a.m. - Pee Wee B (Leitrim vs Arnprior).

Sunday At Dome: 8 a.m. - Pee Wee C (Smith Falls vs Thousand Islands), 9:30 a.m. - Squirt Championship game followed by presentation of Scott Farrand Sportsmanship Award. 11 a.m. - Pee Wee C Championship Game, 12:30 p.m. - Pee Wee B Championship Game, 2 p.m. - Bantam Championship Game.

The Ogdensburg Squirts used Saturday's win over Massena to stay in contention for a berth in the championship game of the Mike Hazen Tournament.
