The five marching bands entered in the Ogdensburg International Seaway Festival Parade on Saturday all distinquished themselves with their performances in the long march in intense heat.

The scores reflected that. Morristown outscored Gouverneur 71.55-66.6 for Class C honors.

The Marching Bulldogs of Heuvelton also claimed awards for the Best of Winds, Best Majorette in Madison McCormick, Highest General Effect, Highest Musical Management and Best Rifles/Batons.

"This was a very good competition and the scoring was very close," said announcer Matt George who received the Carl Dowdle Award for his dedicated contributions to the Seaway Festival.

The award is named after Spencer Montroy who was involved with the Morristown Band for several years before his succumbing to cancer at age 39.

"This is award is all about the Morristown band. Over the years they have marched despite low numbers. I remember times when they only had six members but they were out there," said George in presenting the award in memory of his late brother-in law.
