Heuvelton Continues Roll; Chateaugay Checks M-W
HEUVELTON - Controlling a meeting of NAC West and East Softball co-leaders Heuvelton Central continued its late season roll with a 13-4 over Norwood-Norfolk on Monday.
While the Bulldogs continued its momentum another Bulldog band, Chateaugay, gained an NAC East win over Madrid-Waddington.
The NAC West game between Morristown and Edwards-Knox was postponed because of a COVID quarantine in Morristown.
HEUVELTON DOWNS NORWOOD-NORFOLK
Chasity Johnson blanked the Flyers through five innings while the Bulldogs built a 5-0 lead with offensive production throughout the lineup.
Johnson struck out nine in a complete game effort and Molly Williams sparked the offense with a single and a triple. Ally Trathen doubled, Amber Cunningham singled twice and Carley Simmons, Katie Cunningham, Dakota West and Lily Spooner all singled.
"We did a lot of good things today. Chasity Johnson had another great outing on the mound and Molly Williams was solid at the plate. Amber Cunningham had a couple of big hits to drive in runs and had a couple of nice running catches in the outfield," said Heuvelton Assistant Coach Chris Showers.
"We need to keep the momentum going as we go to Lisbon tomorrow to face an improving Lisbon team."
CHATEAUGAY DOWNS MADRID-WADDINGTON
Avery McDonald pitched a five-hitter as the Bulldogs checked M-W.
Katelyn Morgan singled three times and Chloe Champagne and Hailey Barley each singled twice for the Bulldogs who capitalized on walks to pull away.
"We played pretty well tonight. We started off slow defensively but settled in and made plays. Avery pitched a great game tonight and her defense was there for her. Offensively we were able to get on base and use our speed to make things happen." said Chateaugay Coach Jason LaPlante.
Aynley French and Lacey Sullivan each singled twice for M-W and Alaina Armstrong singled.
In one other NAC East game Parishville-Hopkinton outscored Tupper Lake 27-11.
