Heuvelton Softball Srs Look To Mentor Young Prospects

HEUVELTON - Heuvelton Central School will be looking to continue a tradition of excellence which was only interrupted in recent by the COVID-19 global pandemic which cancelled last year's spring sports season in New York State.
The Lady Bulldogs will feature three senior standouts looking to mentor the development of a extremely promising underclass group which includes two sophomore and six freshmen.
The senior trio features a deep softball background and proven defensive and offensive skills in outfielder Amber Cunningham and two infielders in Molly Williams, one of the top power hitters in the NAC West, and DaKota West.
"Our returning seniors come in with two full years of game experience. I think their knowledge and commitment to our program will make them natural leaders on this team," said Coach Eliza Pierce who will once again be assisted by Chris Showers.
"We have a strong group of athletes who show a love and passion for the sport. They've stayed focused in the offseason and our younger players are ready to step up when its game time."
The first game time will come on Thursday in a nonleague doubleheader with Canton of the NAC Central Division. The Bulldogs will also scrimmage with Hermon-DeKalb on Tuesday.

Sophomore Lily Spooner and freshmen Lakan Martin and Carley Simmons are ready to handle the catching duties while freshmen Rylin McAllister will play in the infield and outfield and freshman, Mikayla Ritchie is looking to aid the outfield efficiency.
