Hooper Continues Goaltending Excellence For CP Dynamo
Ogdensburg's Kelson Hooper, who earned First Team All-State honors after leading Ogdensburg Free Academy to the Section 10 Division II Hockey Championship last season, has continued his excellence in goal at the next level with the CP Dynamo 18-U Triple A Major Midget team of Clifton-Park Youth Hockey.
The CP Dynamo 18U team plays in the American Division of the United States Premier Hockey League and like all athletic programs in New York State, the Dynamo teams were placed on pause for most of the current season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But restrictions have been lessened recently allowing his team to play more games and play every weekend.
The team is also on the ice daily for practice and the players are able to work out in the gym when not on the ice.
The CP Dynamo squad stands at at 7-1 and Hooper has played in six games posting a .930 save percentage stopping 99 of 106 shots and compiling a 1.32 goals against average.
On Sunday he stopped 20 of 21 shots in a 2-1 win over the Westchester Express which features two players with Division I college commitments: to the University of Vermont and Cornell University.
On Saturday, CP Dynamo beat Westchester Express 4-3 on over!me. Daniel Guy backstopped the win with 26 saves.
Hooper also contributed to championship seasons in soccer and golf as an outstanding student-athlete at OFA where he graduated in June.
