Jimmy Howard offered a heartfelt thanks to all his supporters and the Detroit Red Wings fans after his historic tenure between the pipes ended when the franchise did not make an offer to extend his contract. He is now a free agent.

Howard who personified class, professionalism and dedication to his craft and to the Detroit community since joining the Red Wings' organization moved on new challenges in hockey in the same manner.
